Paper Mills in Focus 2016

During the past couple of months, our team has been working in different paper mills in Germany, Austria, Turkey and England - together with cooperation partners such as planning offices and plant manufacturers.

These clients were challenging. Paper mills are 24/7 shops. They are working around the clocks throughout the week, in various shifts. For our colleagues, this meant yet again: Flexibility first! We had to adapt to defined time slots, in order not to bother the workers and to avoid strong vibrations that influenced our results.

Altogether, we created between 150 and more than 1000 scans per project. We learned, that paper mills ALWAYS work, are very hot, everything is one size larger than elsewhere and there are tons of different ductwork.

To be continued...

Laserscanning at BASF Plant in Bradford, UK

At the beginning of February, our Vice President Sascha Dürmuth, accompanied by his brother Stefan Dürmuth, travelled to the United Kingdom to carry out some Laserscanning jobs for our long-term client BASF at their Bradford plant.

Bradford is one of England's largest chemical plants. Founded over 50 years back, it had been taken over by BASF in 2008 with 600 employees today and enjoys a very good reputation with regard to security.

Laserscanning Project at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport

On behalf of the general contractor INNIUS GTD Dresden/Berlin, BKR conducted the Laserscanning of both smoke extractor tunnels North and South underneath the Airport Berlin-Brandenburg.
Though the project as a whole is a bit slow, it certainly moves forward. And we contributed by using innovative Laserscanning technology.

On the Road Again

Besides our laserscanning projects, we are currently very busy in infrastructure surveying, especially in Germany's famous "Autobahn" / highways.

Lately, our teams had their main operation areas in the Frankonian Region, in the North of Bavaria, where there are numerous construction sites. We support the staff of Highway construction market leader Strabag with tasks in road surveying, quantity determination and by calculating machine control data.

It is a huge construction site and will last until 2020. Learn more about the project from this video (in German language):  http://a3-wuerzburg.de/fileadmin/user_upload/documents/Projekt/Visualisierung/Projektfilm_1280x720p.mp4

BKR in China: Surveying made in Germany

When it comes to high-precision data, Westinghouse Electric Germany GmbH clings to German quality - even when the projects are carried out in remote countries. Therefore, our colleagues have travelled to China three times during the past months.

In China, Westinghouse is supervising planning works at the nuclear plants in
Fuqing (Fujian province), Fangjiashan (Zhejiang province) und Changjiang (Hainan province), among others. There, the cementing plants had to be partly or entirely re-planned and built.

BKR has been charged with the recording by means of 3D laser scanning. We were primarily selected for the job, because the projects had a very tight schedule and a smooth processing of the tasks was indispensable. In addition, there were highest requirements to data quality in terms of precision and completeness.

Three trips to China - and all projects were completed - as a success for all involved parties. Thanks to perfect timing of the work steps, not a single day was lost: The scanning data were being evaluated on site, so that the point clouds could be delivered to Westinghouse already two days after the teams returned to Germany!

AVEVA Dach from 22 May -24 May 2014 in Salzburg

For the second time BKR participated with huge success as exhibitor in this year’s meeting of PDMS users.

During intensive discussions in our booth with our general manager Mr. Siegfried Bottek and our Sales Manager Mr. Marius Wölfling we have been able to inform many users about the latest solutions in 3D laser scanning.

3D laser scanning is getting more and more important for plant engineering and respectively for the software AVEVA E3D for engineering.

Thus BKR has bought another new scanner this year and is now, with the help of three scanners, able to work with high flexibility with our customers.

Two new scanners for BKR

One scanner is not enough! For being able to act even more flexible we have bought the second high-tech-scanner this year from Zoller+Fröhlich. With both scanners of the type Imager 5010C we have now three technically identical scanners with a capturing capability of one million points per second. The Imager 5010C also has an integrated camera for HDR pictures for the creation of colour scans.

Especially when using them in parallel for large projects the working times onsite are shortened. For our customers this means that their processes only need to be interrupted for a minimal period of time. Ms Noth from Zoller+Fröhlich handed over the scanners in our Office Weinheim to the proud new owners: Managing director Siegfried Bottek and Sascha Dürmuth, as well as Marius Wölfling, our Sales Manager laser scanning.

Mr. Sascha Dürmuth 3rd director of BKR

BKR appoints 3rd director

Since its foundation in 1989 the company BKR is managed by Siegfried Bottek and Norbert Reischl. We are not only forward-looking as far as service and technology is concerned, but we also want to prepare our management for the future. This is why we have decided to appoint a third management member in our company. He will manage BKR over the coming decades with the help of his qualification and his age.
Mr. Sascha Dürmuth, born in 1979 in Weinheim, has been working for BKR since 2007. Since March 2009 he is branch manager of our office in Weinheim. From there he is going to run the business of BKR together with the current management board.
From 2001 till 2005 Mr. Dürmuth went to university of applied science (Fachhochschule) Mainz, which he completed as Dipl.Ing (FH) in geoinformatics and surveying. In 2006 and 2007 he completed a training in the upper grade of the civil administrative service in surveying at the land surveying office Baden-Württemberg in the District Office Rhein-Neckar-Kreis Heidelberg.
With this qualification and his work experience at BKR he has the ideal background for his future management function. We cordially welcome him!
