Project OMV Gas Station Aderklaa

In 2008 OMV AG commissioned the company Bohr- und Rohrtechnikgesellschaft m.b.H with the creation of the documentation of the gas station Aderklaa, near Vienna. In the past such plants were surveyed with classic methods and with help of these results isometric drawings were created. One disadvantage of this method: In case of missing information, this information has to be re-captured onsite in the plant. This was the reason why Bohr- und Rohrtechnikgesellschaft m.b.H choose the method of 3D laser scanning for the documentation of the plant and and thus commissioned BKR Ingenieurbüro GmbH with this task. BKR captured an area of approx. 5400 m2 with help of the laser scanning technology. From this scan data BKR created a detailed 3D model of the pipes with fittings, flanges and fixed points – including small pipes up to DN 15, like drainage or vent pipes. Each of the approx. 700 pipes received an index, with which it could be identified and thus not mixed up. This was an essential step in order to derive the isometric drawings, common in system operation, from the 3D model. In addition to the isometric drawings, the client received a point cloud, that means a 3D image of the plant. This saves a lot of effort, because – also later on – further information can be extracted, without re-entering the plant.

Highlights

  • High safety regulation because of explosion danger (gas)
  • Post-extraction of measurement from the point cloud
  • 350 scans in only 15 days
